Oussudu Lake, also known as Ousteri Lake, is the largest freshwater lake in Puducherry, covering approximately 800 hectares, with about 390 hectares situated within the Union Territory of Puducherry and the remainder in Tamil Nadu.
Ecological Significance: Oussudu Lake is recognized as an important wetland and bird sanctuary, hosting around 200 species of birds, including migratory species such as the golden oriole, openbill stork, and painted stork.
Activities: Visitors can enjoy boating facilities provided by the Puducherry Tourism Department, offering 15-minute and 30-minute rides to observe the diverse birdlife and the serene environment.
